Welcome Students! This will be my second semester of teaching, after teaching WMST 200, I am excited to embark on a new teaching journey with you all. I am invested in fostering an open learning enviornment that does not focus on the "right" answer. My major approach, like Professor Katie King is to situate ourselves within a particular historical and social moment. We are not outside gender, race, and other power relations, and are part of larger historical and social moments and groups. So how is art, Women's Studies, and feminism related you might ask? There is no easy answer to this question, but we will
always be asking and looking at power relations and how it organizes society. I am looking forward to learning from everyone and having a great class!
More About Me I am a third year PhD student in the department of Women's Studies. My research focuses on racial formation of "Latino" and "Mexican" in the United States and how gender and race are integral in these constructions. I am originally from the Tampa Bay area in Florida.
